    Description

This is a Royal Copenhagen Tiger, Number 714. It is a factory first, hand made and hand painted in Denmark in 1969-1974.
This porcelain figurine was designed by Lauritz Jensen. It is a large, regal creature. It measures 12 inches long, and 5.5 inches tall.
It is a stunning piece. To me it embodies in sculpture some of what William Blake captures in his famous poem, "The Tyger".
The tiger is upright and alert, and its top half appears poised, stock still. The back half of the tiger is positioned naturally. Its back legs are comfortably crossed and its tail curled with lifted tip suggesting passive movement. Overall this young alpha male tiger gives off the impression of full vitality and control. It is a magnificent piece.
This tiger is flawless with no damage. It is wonderfully colored. The orange is not bright, and the darker tones give the piece understated power and presence.
