ROYAL COPENHAGEN FLORA DANICAThe World's Most Expensive Dinnerware
LARGE OVAL SOUP TUREEN with LID
NUMBER 20/3359
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! A COLLECTOR'S DREAM!
THIS IS PRIZE-WINNING ROYAL PORCELAIN!!
This piece was my grandmother's and has never been used for anything other than display. There are no chips, flaws or crazing.
This Royal Copenhagen "FLORA DANICA" dates back to 1790 when the collection was created as a gift for Catherine II of Russia. The talented artisans were not quite finished with the creation of the dinnerware when she died, making the value of this extravagant collection soar in value.
Each piece is stamped on the bottom (see photo) with the Royal Copenhagen/Denmark stamp, a crown and 3 blue waves. Depending on the particular stamp, you can determine the piece's approximate age of creation. This tureen has a crown and the Royal Copenhagen stamp in green under the glazing together with blue waves trademark which is the stamp that has been used since 1923. If you look closely, you will see a little hash mark under the letter "G" which indicates the artist finished this piece between 1969 - 1974. The initials of the artist are signed to the right of the stamp and it is numbered 20/3359.
In addition to the exquisite twig handles, the detailed floral painting and the 3 dimensional, sculpted flowers, this piece features real gold accents throughout.
A spectacular piece for the Flora Danica collector.
