ROYAL COPENHAGEN BISQUE FRAMED WALL PLAQUES - THE FOUR SEASONSHere is a splendid and rare opportunity to own these beautiful Royal Copenhagen plaques representing and depicting the Four Seasons - Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
It is my understanding that the original plaques were designed by Bertel Thorvaldse in the early 19th century and that Royal Copenhagen produced this series again in the mid to late 1950's. They are a pure white bisque porcelain with a matte finish. Each of these plaques are framed in a white frame which measures approximately 9" x 9". Though not totally visible, the top of each plaque has holes drilled on the top and on the reverse side in order to be hung without being framed with a wire. Since they are framed, what is not visible, is on the back of each plaque they are marked with the Royal Copenhagen makers mark (name, crown, Denmark and the three blue wavy lines). Each plaque measures approximately 5 1/2" in diameter and 3/8" thick.
The frames show some wear, though they are still okay to be hung. The plaques are centered in a blue velvet.
