Here is a
Royal Copenhagen
Blue Fluted Tobacco Jar Number 5024.
This is a rare porcelain jar (or box) that is no longer produced. The painting is particularly beautiful on this piece. It contains elements of the classic Royal Copenhagen blue fluted motifs, with artistic and playful adaptations and arrangements. The gradations in the cobalt painting are lovely.
The piece is a
factory first
in excellent used condition. There are no chips, cracks or scratches. There remains a moisture absorbing sponge in the the lid compartment from the previous owner that carries the scent of tobacco (not at all smokey). I can remove this and clean completely if you wish.
This jar was hand made and hand painted in Denmark in 1975-1979, as indicated by markings. It has clearly been carefully cared for these past ~45 years.
The jar is sizable, with a 4 1/8 inch diameter and a 2
1/4
inch height, not including its lid.
