What Is This Masa Mix For?
Use Maseca Instant Corn Masa Mix for corn tortillas, enchiladas, pupusas, atoles, tamales and more. This masa flour is perfect for any dish you'd like to make that requires a corn tortilla base. If you're in the mood for making a delicious, homemade tamale dough, here's a tip on how to make it (in case you don't already know). Take six cups of your corn masa flour and combine it with five cups of warm water. Allow the mixture to rest for about 20 minutes so that it can soften, then beat the mixture with an electric beater, on low, until the masa flour mixture turns to dough.
Sprinkle in your desired choice of spices: a typical blend of tamale spices might include salt, onion powder, cumin, chili powder and maybe even a hint of cayenne to wake up the senses. Fill another bowl with two cups of pork lard and whip the lard until it forms a fluffy texture. Then, combine the lard with your dough, while beating the mixture a little at a time, until all of the lard combines with the masa dough. You'll know your mixture is good if it's about the consistency of peanut butter. Now you have your tamale dough ready to make some delicious tamales!
Is This Masa Flour Mix Healthy?
Maseca Instant Corn Masa Mix contains no preservatives, no sodium, no sugar and only 1.5 grams of total fat. Also, this corn masa contains antioxidants and fiber.
    Instant Mix
